Via Zoom, Facebook Live and in the Library's Community room -  Monarch butterflies Part 2. Like many pollinator species, Monarch butterflies, are in drastic decline. The stunning orange and black butterfly journeys through Montana on their multi-generational, several thousand-mile-long annual migration. Recent counts suggest the population is less than 1% of the historical size. Reduction of native plants across its range, habitat loss at overwintering colonies, pesticide use, and climate change have all contributed to the decline. Come learn about monarch research in the Bitterroot Valley, their awe-inspiring migration, metamorphosis, why milkweeds are so important, and what you can do to help. Please register and we can send you the Zoom link.  Bring a mask to wear in the community room.

With Maggie Hirschauer, Bitterroot Monarch Project Coordinator.
